Americans have a long-standing love affair with grilling. This courting started many years ago. Our ancestors first discovered to cook dinner over an open flame, and today, grilling has become a year-round lifestyle choice with many who prefer to cook outdoors.
Why do Americans love grilling so much? The motives are wide-ranging — some grill to loosen up. The outdoors is their breakout, and the flame calms them. Others barbecue for nostalgia. A restaurant is a time gadget to their great formative years moments — many grills for the sheer pleasure of cooking. The sizzle on the grates, the scent is growing to the sky, the juices dripping on the coals.
The Hearth, Patio & Barbecue Association requested grilling celebrities to share why we love sitting around the flame and to, in the long run, inspire all people to grill this summertime and beyond.
1) Boog Powell, “I grill for nostalgia:”
